Additional information on glass as abrasive material:

  1. The pulverized glass products of Curaglas Inc. to be used as a sandblasting abrasive material goes further than its competitors because it has a lower density than some other abrasives, a greater volume per weight is produced, thus increasing productivity. Additionally, pulverized glass particles are angular to sub-angular in geometry and cut extremely well in each grit classification. These two factors contribute to the pulverized glass of Curaglass Inc. lasting longer and going further per bag than an equivalent bag of Coal Slag type abrasive.
  1. The pulverized glass of Curaglas Inc. produces much less dust than its competitors. Giving its users better visibility of target area, resulting in a more economical use of products and realizing a time saving by not going over an area, already blasted. Users have reported the pulverized glass of Curaglas Inc. producing only 1/3 to ½ the dust produced by Coal Slag abrasives depending on grit range employed.
  1. The pulverized glass of Curaglas Inc. are safer to use, being more lung and earth friendly than either Coals Slag or Silica Sand. The pulverized glass of Curaglas Inc. is made of Glass, and glass contains essentially no “free-silica”, which greatly reduces the threat of silicosis. Additionally, the pulverized glass of Curaglas Inc. contains no heavy metals like typical Coal Slag abrasives do. Coal slag is one or the widely used abrasives in dry abrasive blasting. Atmospheric emissions from this process include particulate mater (PM) and heavy metals, such as chromium, lead, manganese, nickel. Quantities and characteristics of PM emissions depend on abrasive characteristics and process parameters.
  1. Coal Slag abrasives can leach heavy metals into the environment, air, and water. This is of particular note and importance when blasting over and or near any body of water, populated area, or crop land. Again, the pulverized glass of Curaglas Inc. contains NO heavy metals, is inert environmentally, and the right answer where impact to the environment might be an issue.
  1. The pulverized glass of Curaglas Inc. abrasives are made entirely form recycled post consumer glass and by using them you help keep your country “Green” by reducing landfill deposits.
  1. The pulverized glass of Curaglas Inc. can be reused a number of times allowing the consumer added value and economy.
